Where isolation meets innovation. A documentary on the resilience of Europe's most remote rural communities — depopulation, mass tourism and sustainability — shot across four frontiers: Stintino in Sardinia, Þingeyri in Iceland's Westfjords, the inland villages of Madeira and rural Gran Canaria.

Made within the EU-funded EUROPE project (rEmote and rUral aReas Of EuroPe togethEr), Forgotten Frontiers tells the stories that usually stay at the margins of public debate: four isolated territories on the continent's edge, each fighting depopulation and the pressure of seasonal tourism while trying to preserve identity and reinvent a future.

The thesis is quiet but firm: these communities are not alone, and they can learn from one another. Stintino, Þingeyri, the Madeira hinterland and rural Gran Canaria are filmed not as postcards but as living places, with the people who keep them alive at the centre of the frame.

// The work

Directed, edited and color graded end to end. The edit finds one structure across four very different places; the grade ties Atlantic greys, Mediterranean light and volcanic landscapes into a single continuous world, so four frontiers read as one film about the same idea.
